The project is aimed at creating a unique methodology for the detection of crop diseases in the latent phase of the disease. The project includes research and laboratory experiments, examination of hyperspectral images of healthy and disease-infected plants, analysis of the data of the reflected light spectrum of plants, development of algorithms for data processing. It is expected to create diagnosis and control systems for the most common diseases of winter wheat, spring wheat and spring barley. The systems will include crop monitoring, remote sensing and laboratory data analysis, disease diagnosis and prediction, disease risk mapping. The systems will be used for the maintenance of the most widely grown crops and for the control of the most common diseases. Accurate identification and prediction of the disease will allow farmers to preserve their crop and use necessary plant protection products only in case of emergency and in appropriate doses. The project will contribute to the modernization of agriculture in Lithuania and EU, and increasing the efficiency and sustainable use of agrobiological resources.
